Dog Training Guide

Much of dogs behavior comes as an instinctual response they see something moving so they chase it. This kind of behavior often results in actions that people seek to train out of a dog. By learning the right tips to counter act the dogs response one can train their dog.

The dog, man's best friend. We've all probably found ourselves owning a dog at some point, but perhaps weren't the one responsible for training it. One of the keys to training a dog is consistency. You have to reward it all the time for good behavior, and punish it all the time for bad behavior. For example if you are potty training and your dog uses the pad, reward her with a treat each and every time to reinforce that behavior.

When giving commands to your dog, do not repeat the command over and over before getting a response. By giving the command one time and waiting for the dog to respond, you will teach him that you are expectant of a behavior. If the command is not obeyed at first, show your pet what you expect before saying the command again.

It is important to understand that training your dog will require a lot of patience and repetition. It often takes a dog between 25 and 50 repetitions before they are able to learn a new command. Getting frustrated will only delay your results and may hurt your relationship with your pet.

If your dog is not listening while you are doing Dog Training, make sure that the dog is not ill. There will be no benefits to punishing your animal if it is not feeling well, and it can have very detrimental effects afterwards. If you are unable to decide if the dog is sick then contact a veterinarian for assistance.

When you are trying to train your dog to follow a command, repetition is key. Practice the command multiple times a day and be sure to offer your dog praise and a treat when he or she successfully follows your command. Repetition will ensure that your dog will remember and follow the command in the future.

When training your new dog, you call them by name as much as possible. Call your dog by name as much as possible when you are first getting to know your pup; this will establish a connection between hearing the name and giving positive attention to the speaker. Keep the name brief, and make sure that it does not sound too similar to other commonly used words.

Stimulate your dog every day to help prevent nuisance behaviors, such as barking. A bored dog is more likely to bark continuously in an effort to gain attention. If you get your dog out for regular walks and exercise, you may find that this behavior stops. You will have a happier dog, and be a happier owner.

Accidents will happen when a puppy is being potty trained. Always immediately clean-up any messes your dog makes. If your carpet begins to smell like urine and feces, your puppy will believe that it is the right place to potty and return to it again and again. There are a wide variety of odor control products designed to address just this situation, so head to the pet shop and ask about them.

Train your dog so that living together is fun for both you and your dog. Living with a dog should not be a hardship, but it can be if you don't take the time to research the type of training a dog understands. A dog does not think like a human, so learning how to train in a way they understand will make it easier for both of you.

Learning to recognize what is going to trigger a response from an ones dog will help one be ready to take action. After learning the right procedures an individual can train their dog to resist urges to run or other unwanted behavior. The resulting changes can make the owner very happy.
